Brief Respite

For a couple days the kids have been healthy and even-tempered and just a joy. Well Vince has learned to bite but maybe he's just enjoying the six teeth he has?  It's funny to watch them use their front teeth to bite a cheerio in half.  He's also saying Oscar quite often, which made us realize they'll soon be talking.  It comes out Ahh Duh, but we know he's saying Oscar. :)

The girls have become quite expressive with the faces which is so funny.  Ali furrows her brow a lot, a serious Gunter trait.  And Vivi raises her eyebrows like she's constantly surprised. They crack us up!

Vince and Vivi are trucking around furniture and really fast crawlers which leaves us exhausted at the end of the day.  We only lock them in "baby jail" when we're cooking or can't keep on eye on them momentarily.  They enjoy the freedom of looking around, which I think is good for them.  Ali is still in therapy and I'm torn between letting her go at her own pace and taking her to therapy at least twice a week.  When do you let them go at their own pace and when are we ignoring their need of professional assistance?

Our school district has a program called Ready for Kindergarten to help parents prepare their kids. It was overwhelming for me, to say the least. It reinforced in my mind partially why our kids are behind and the task ahead of us to prepare them. All the other Moms work with their kids constantly. But it's hard for us because one is crawling away, one is crying and pulling on you while the other wants in your lap to read a book. But we're just doing the best we can each day.

We've got a great support system and caregivers who love on the babies and help us work with them and make playtime productive too.

Aunt Becky and Vince reading a book. Vince LOVES reading these days.

Vivi prefers to exercise her new-found crawling/standing skills.

Mom came for a visit a couple weeks ago and the kids loved the time with Grandma!

Becky couldn't grab the camera fast enough but Vince followed me to the bathroom. He was laying on the floor trying to peek underneath the door to see where Mommy went!

Every year our neighborhood gets together for pumpkin carving. We missed out last year but hosted it again this year and it was tons of fun!

The babies watched in amazement and especially as the new pumpkin scraper via drill tool was used.

Even the drill tool was exhausting for Ross. LOL
